Ju Jitsu [ Sometimes spelt Jujutsu or JUI Jitsu ]
"Ju" can be translated as "gentle, soft, supple, flexible, pliable, or yielding" and "Jitsu" can be translated as "art or technique". Therefore "Ju Jitsu" is usually known as the "yielding-art".
At it’s core is the philosophy of manipulating the opponent's force against him/herself rather than confronting it with one's own force. Ju Jitsu developed to combat the Samurai of feudal Japan as a method for defeating an armed and armoured opponent in which one uses no form of weapon.
Ju Jitsu, unlike many other martial arts, covers many aspects and ranges of fighting. From the furthest distance with kicking trough the close in stand up grappling to throws and ground fighting.
This means there’s always something new to learn and master and definitely something to fit every fight situation.
What we teach in Falkirk Martial Arts Academy is deeply rooted in the Traditional Japanese Ju Jitsu but we also use modern concepts to evolve what we do and how we do it and we adapt our training and style for a modern world.
If there is a technique or method that can add to our training we will adopt it and, this way, our Ju Jitsu grows to be bigger, better and stronger.
